Style difference

How is American Mahjong different?

American Mahjong uses a card of standard hands that changes each year. It also uses jokers, racks, and an opening passing sequence commonly called the Charleston. Those features give the game a clear structure, but the card makes much more sense when someone connects it to a live hand.

It is not the same as Taiwanese or Asian (Goulash and Hands) - Dubai Style Mahjong. The tile families may look familiar, but the hand targets, table rhythm, and decision-making are different. Learn the style you expect to keep playing.

Rules referenceLearn the version used at your real table.

Mahjong styles and house rules vary. Neha teaches the class-table version and uses live hands to make the differences clear.
